Costume Designers // Alberto Spiazzi

Italian costume designer Alberto Spiazzi is a native of Verona and studied at the academy of fine arts in Florence. During his studies he also worked as an assistant in over 30 opera productions, and in 1980, he moved to Rome where he began to work in feature films. He has been assistant designer for Piero Tosi and Gabriella Pescucci for films such as The Name of the Rose, Indochine, and The Scarlet Letter, and has worked with Franco Zeffirelli on La Traviata, Tea with Mussolini, and Callas Forever.  In the late 80s he started to design on his own, with Italian directors such as Pupi Avati and Mauro Bolognini.

His costume designs for the film Tea with Mussolini earned him a Nastro d'Argento (Italian film critics award) as well as a nomination for the British Academy of Film and Televison Arts for Best Costume Design.

Alberto also designed a series for ABC called Empire that aired in summer 2005.
Recently, Alberto has designed costumes for La Divina Commedia l'Opera and for a production of Nabucco at Masada Israel.
