Phyllis Housen graduated from Tufts University where she studied Film Theory and English Literature. While an undergrad at Tufts, she attended a semester at the University of Southern California Film School. Phyllis graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Cinema Production from the London International Film School, having earned a Distinction in Editing.

Ms. Housen began her film career in Paris, where she edited for seven years. In 1991, she moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a film editor on both studio and independent features. Phyllis edited and co-produced Dream For An Insomniac (Columbia/tristar). She edited the audience Award winning Adam & Steve (FunnyBoy films, Tribeca Film Festival 2005) and Mr. Pink's Videos (A Band Apart) six music videos for Billy Bob Thornton. Other credits include: Meet Wally Sparks (trimark); Cronos (October films/Iguana Producciones (Mexico); Boxing Helena (Main line pictures); Beverly Hills Cop III (Paramount); Father Of The Bride II (Touchstone); All the Pretty Horses (Columbia/Miramax); and Kill Bill Volumes 1& 2 (Miramax).

Phyllis has worked with directors Quentin Tarantino, Billy Bob Thornton, Guillermo del Toro, John Landis, Jennifer Lynch, Charles Shyer, Craig Chester and Hans Canosa.

Memoires of a Teenage Amnesiac (Dot Dot Dot Films, Toei Productions), the Japanese teen romantic comedy, brought Phyllis to New York in 2009. She followed with Meskada (Deerjen Films/Aliquot Films) which premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival, then with the documentary, Evolution of a Criminal (Deerjen Films/ Aliquot Films), and she is presently cutting the thriller, Junction (Choice films/Movie Ranch Entertainment).
