As a Producer, Mr. Getaz produced Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale in 2005 at Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic. His company, “Giants Are Small,” which he co-founded with visual artist Doug Fitch and multimedia entrepreneur Frederic Gumy, produced Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2008. He has also developed and produced several shows and public events, from major fashion shows to giant projections on large historical buildings worldwide. The company’s newest project, Peter and the Wolf (and the duck!), is currently in active development for Broadway in co-production with Big Heart Theatrical.
As a director, Mr. Getaz’s first short film Virgin Red (2005) played several major international film festivals. His second short, Freud's Magic Powder, premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2009, which yielded several significant collaborations with major talent. Mr. Getaz is now developing his first full length feature film, Jeelabee Smith - An Unpredictable Life.
Beginning as a teenager and then for almost 15 years, Mr. Getaz contributed to the organization and programming of the Cully Jazz Festival, which became one of the most prominent jazz festivals in Switzerland. He then worked for two years with Montreux Jazz Festival's legendary producer and founder Claude Nobs and served as the Artistic Coordinator of the Montreux Jazz Café.
In 1998, Mr. Getaz co-founded an event communications agency, Creatives, which quickly grew to become one of the leading companies of its kind in French speaking Switzerland. He was responsible for the Artistic direction of the agency for five years, before turning to the fields of live entertainment and cinema and his current collaborations and projects.
Mr. Getaz earned a Masters in Law from Switzerland and has studied film direction and production at New York University. He currently lives in New York with his wife and son.
