Writers // Eric Bernat
Eric is a writer who lives in New York, so far uptown that everyone thinks he lives in the Bronx, but he doesn’t. It’s Manhattan.
His first full-length play, Bend, was chosen to be a part of Naked Angels’ First Mondays reading series (Nov. 2008) and consequently given further workshop development with them (Jan. 2009), working with director Charlie Stratton and featuring Miriam Shor, Justin Bond, Sean Dugan and Erik Heger.
He recently collaborated with composer Michael Holland on the book of the musical Hurricane, which premiered at the 2009 NYMF and won a couple of awards, which was nice.
His second play Drift earned him New York Stage and Film's inaugural Founder's Award for emerging playwrights (2010) and he is constantly trying to drop this fact into unrelated conversations.
A well rounded individual, Eric’s hobbies include yoga, waiting tables, and performing regularly as a member of The Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theatre. He is currently taking a break from writing his first novel to write this bio.
