Gary Hoover

Gary (“Gar”) is an award-winning screenwriter and playwright. As a team with his writing partner, Beth, his work has been recognized by more than two dozen film festivals and competitions, taking grand prize in eight. He has a feature in development and is working on several film, television and stage projects while teaching screenwriting to upperclassmen in the International Film and Studies program at Loyola University. He also teaches advanced screenwriting at the world-renowned Second City, where he is a member of the Film and TV faculty. Gar is creative director and a founding partner at ideafarm, a branding and digital content agency that helps entrepreneurial companies tell their stories to the marketplace. He is also an accomplished photographer whose street art series on the Berlin Wall can be seen on exhibit in Chicago.

Beth Hoover

Beth is a screenwriter and half of an award-winning writing team with partner, Gar. Her work has taken best screenplay honors at film festivals nationwide and garnered recognition from prestigious writing competitions including Francis Ford Coppola’s American Zoetrope and the Nicholl Fellowships sponsored by AMPAS. She teaches screenwriting at both Loyola University and at Second City while working on various film and TV projects, and is a co-founder at ideafarm. She’s also on the management team of a venture capital-backed software firm. Beth serves on the advisory board for Women In Film, having previously been a member of its board of directors, and was among the organization's first screenwriting mentors. A native of Monterey, she is a longtime vegan and a graduate of the University of Virginia.
